Member roles

What each organization role can do, and how to change someone's role.

Every member has an organization role that sets their baseline access. Roles are the broad strokes; for finer control over specific features, you layer permission sets on top.

The roles

  • Owner — Full control of the organization, including organization settings and billing. There's always at least one owner.
  • Administrator — Manages members, teams, automations, and most day-to-day settings — but not owner-only areas like organization billing.
  • Member — Works within the features they've been granted through permission sets, with no organization-management access by default.

Roles and permission sets together

A role sets the baseline; permission sets grant access to specific modules on top. Where the two overlap, the most permissive level wins. See Permissions for how the two layers combine.

No role can read another person's vault. Stories and teaching concepts stay private to their owner, regardless of role.
