Cadence
Getting Started

Overview

A quick tour of what Cadence does and how its pieces fit together.

Cadence is where your church plans and prepares its teaching. You map out a series, build each sermon on a flexible canvas, pull from your own library of stories and illustrations, and keep the whole team coordinated with tasks and automations. This page gives you the big picture so the rest of the guides make sense.

What you can do in Cadence

At its core, Cadence helps you move a sermon from idea to delivery without losing the pieces along the way.

  • Plan teaching as a series. Group related sermons into a multi-week arc with a theme and a key passage for each week.
  • Build each sermon on a canvas. Arrange your introduction, points, scripture, illustrations, and applications as blocks you can reorder freely.
  • Keep a personal vault. Save your stories and teaching concepts once and reuse them across sermons for years.
  • Coordinate the team. Track tasks, run projects, and set up automations so routine hand-offs happen on their own.
  • Manage your organization. Invite members, group them into teams, and control access with permission sets.

A few features depend on your organization type — for example, scripture Passages appear for churches but not for other organizations.

How the pieces fit together

A few core ideas show up everywhere in Cadence. It's worth learning them once.

  • A Series is a container for several Sermons (the individual sermons you deliver each week).
  • Each Sermon is built on a canvas made of blocks.
  • Your Vault holds reusable Stories and Teaching Concepts that you drop into any sermon. The vault is private to you.
  • Projects and Tasks track the work around your teaching — design, tech, approvals, and budgets.
  • Venues are your campuses or broadcast locations, and Campus Views roll up everything happening at one of them.

For precise definitions of each term, see Key concepts.
