Quick create
Create a task, project, sermon, goal, meeting, check-in, 1:1, or purchase request from anywhere with a single keystroke.
Cadence has a universal quick-create box you can open from any screen — no need to navigate to the right page first. Press one key, fill in a couple of fields, and you're back to what you were doing.

Open quick create
Press a shortcut key anywhere in the app and the create box opens, focused and ready to type. The shortcuts are ignored while you're typing in a text field, so they never get in your way.
Keyboard shortcuts
Each key opens quick create straight to that kind of thing:
| Key | Creates |
|---|---|
t | Task |
p | Project |
s | Sermon |
m | Meeting |
g | Goal |
c | Check-in |
o | One-on-one |
r | Purchase request |
These are distinct from search — press ⌘K (or Ctrl+K) to find things, and the keys above to
create them.
Switch what you're creating
The create box has a row of tabs across the top. Opening with a shortcut preselects the matching tab; you can click another tab to switch without closing the box.
What you can create
Task t
Creates a task and optionally assigns it to a project, sets a due date, status, priority, and assignee. You can also make it recurring right from the quick-create box — see Recurring tasks.
Project p
Creates a new project with a title. You can link it to an existing goal after creation from the project overview.
Sermon s
Creates a sermon draft in a series. Choose the series, venue, and delivery date.
Meeting m
Creates a project meeting. Select the project (required), give it a title, and set the meeting date. The meeting opens on the project's Meetings tab once created.
Goal g
Creates a new goal. Name and why are required. You can also add a first outcome metric (label, unit, and target value) right here — or add measures from the goal's page later.
Check-in c
Posts a check-in against an existing goal. Pick the goal, choose the metric you're updating, enter the current value and any notes, and set the health status — On track, At risk, or Behind. See Goals for the full check-in workflow.
One-on-one o
Starts a 1:1 with a direct report. Pick the person and Cadence opens the existing 1:1 (or creates one if this is the first). See One-on-ones for the full meeting workflow.
Purchase request r
Creates a purchase request prefilled with a project. Choose the project (required) and give the request a name. See Purchase requests to learn how requests are approved and tracked.
